Also, using testdisk I noticed that my efi partition is corrupted.Both boot records and file entries are found for this partition But, as someone else said, dd might have deleted 5gb of dara or more, and that means that maybe it deleted it from my linux install. Why was that? Is there a chance that can happen with your program too? Also, using testdisk, I don't know from what menu, I managed to browse files from my NTFS partition (weird that I wasn't able to do that for ext4 too) and I copied all the files on another drive and I was able to boot windows without any problem. I tried testdisk, which correctly found my partitions, but when I asked it to repair the gpt, it looked for different partitions and than it told me that some partitions couldn't be restored, and those were exactly the ones that I needed. By the way, don't know if it's relevant, but sdb was a 500GB SSD. I know that there are programs that can recover data, but that would still mean that I will need to reinstall my operating system again. My question is, is it possible to somehow repair that drive and recreate that partition table so that I can use that drive again? Regarding the EFI partition, that is not a problem, because it just so happens that I have a backup of that. (On sdb I had windows and ubuntu installed, because I was dualbooting) I am pretty sure in 10 seconds dd couldn't have deleted so much, but it happened to delete the partition table or maybe the efi partition. I got scared and force closed terminal, but after I rebooted I saw that the whole drive appears as not initialized.
And it didn't even ask for my sudo password because I had entered it a few seconds before.
I was trying to format a flash drive using dd, but I was following a tutorial online and I decided to copy a line into the terminal instead of typing it and I saw that that line would affect the drive sdb, whereas I needed sde and I thought I could paste it in and delete the letter b and type in place e, the same way I did a few commands before, but somehow, I also copied a space at the end of the command and when I typed it in it started deleting things automatically. Please, I really need some help, and I know I am an idiot.
